Transcript
[0:00]
And now, the Flophouse Movie Minute.
[0:09]
So yeah, Dan, there was this one time when I went to go see Arachnophobia at the movie
[0:16]
theater.
[0:17]
I don't know if you remember that, Arachnophobia.
[0:18]
It was a movie with Julian Sands in it.
[0:20]
Sure, I think it was like a Thrill-O-Medy or something.
[0:21]
John Goodman was in it.
[0:22]
John Goodman was in it, that's true.
[0:24]
So I was in the movie theater with my mom and a bunch of friends.
[0:27]
I don't remember how old I was, kind of young.
[0:30]
And it was dark in there.
[0:32]
And there was a lot of scenes with spiders and shit crawling all over the place.
[0:35]
So it was kind of funny because slowly, people started getting up, like the people I was
[0:40]
with, started getting up and walking and standing in the back of the movie theater in the light.
[0:46]
And by the end of the movie, we all were, because we were all fucking creeped out because
[0:50]
we kept thinking there might be spiders crawling up and shit.
[0:53]
But at the end of the day, there's no spiders in the movie theater.
[0:56]
And the movie was, meh, not that great.
[1:00]
So that was my, when I went to go see Arachnophobia.
[1:03]
Is there a moral to the story?
[1:05]
Um, uh, wait, uh, wait, wait, um, wait, uh, Julian Sands is in that movie.
[1:16]
He was also in the Warlock movies.
[1:18]
That's not a moral, that's a fact about Arachnophobia.
[1:21]
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, um, wait.
[1:25]
Uh, I think I'm frightened of spiders, actually.
[1:27]
That's not a moral, really.
[1:29]
That's sort of a lesson you learned about yourself, but that's not something that can
[1:33]
be applied by other people.
[1:35]
Wait, okay, wait, um, if you're going to make a movie and you don't want people to get up
[1:41]
and walk away, you shouldn't make it about creepy things in a dark movie theater.
[1:46]
That comes close to being a moral.
[1:48]
Well, that's like, that's advice.
[1:50]
That's advice for, um.
[1:52]
Aspiring filmmakers.
[1:54]
Uh, uh, wait, wait, wait, uh, Dan, there was this one time when I went and saw Arachnophobia
[2:08]
with my mom and a couple of friends, and uh, we got really creeped out by all the spiders,
[2:13]
and we all got up and watched it.
[2:15]
Wait a minute, they were watching spiders in the theater?
[2:17]
Yeah, no.
[2:19]
No, the movie Arachnophobia has a bunch of spiders.
[2:22]
Dude, they should have called an exterminator to get the spiders out of the theater.
[2:25]
You know, there are, uh, consumer lines you can call.
[2:27]
I assume they were serving food, like popcorn and things in the theater, but they covered in spiders?
[2:32]
This has been.
[2:33]
Another unreleasable movie minute.
[2:35]
This has been Dan McCoy asks Stuart Wellington for long, rambling, nerdy movie anecdotes.
[2:43]
I'm your host, Dan McCoy.
[2:46]
This is the most unpopular podcast in the universe.
[2:50]
So long, Conker.
[2:56]
Dan, maybe we don't have a movie minute in us, Dan.
[2:58]
I'm drunk. I'm drunk tonight.
[3:02]
Dude, you're gonna listen to these tomorrow, and you're gonna be like, solid gold.
[3:06]
Somebody, Sarah, Sarah, turn on the radio.
[3:09]
It'll already be playing, and you're like, oh my god.
[3:13]
We're millionaires. Baby, start living right.
[3:16]
Go buy yourself a solid gold haircut.
[3:20]
Go buy yourself everything you've always wanted but didn't think you had.
[3:22]
Someday this is going to be a landmark experiment in anti-entertainment.
[3:26]
I think that day is today.
[3:29]
Speed Racer, coming soon with the interview.
[3:31]
It's so weird and silly.
