all right guys let's start this thing you guys ready that all right let's start it and fart it
[0:09]
love this we're gonna coin a new phrase yeah all ready kick the tires and fart the fires
[0:18]
just give me some clean air to start this kick this up you got it big old big old fart clean air
[0:25]
uh hey everyone and well sorry i got in one let's keep going i saw there was i
[0:32]
i was peeking in addition to saying a hey peeking dan
[0:43]
hey everyone welcome to the flop house this is a flop house mini it's when uh we do on the
[0:51]
off weeks of our show we don't watch a bad movie we talk about it we sort of do whatever
[0:58]
it's kind of a free-for-all uh we've been we've been um sort of trading the reigns for the flop
[1:06]
house menus i'm sorry i've been dan mccoy i'll say that before we get into this cool yeah uh
[1:13]
i'm stewart wellington i'm elliot caylan ready to say my name unlike my two co-hosts you did it
[1:20]
you did it okay well let's let's point elliot in the name game let's check the scoreboard uh with
[1:28]
banana it's dan banana faux fama it's stewart and banana fama whatever the rest of it is that's
[1:35]
elliot so elliot is currently in the lead on the name game uh i was i was saying that that we
[1:40]
we've been uh trading around who takes the wheel and i feel like um we should uh make a bigger
[1:46]
deal of that because uh it's kind of a fun element of these minis that uh we should mention it more
[1:53]
in the in the television advertising that we buy the commercials yeah we should make it clear to
[1:59]
the audience because uh i think it is a sort of a right now right now the billboards we purchased
[2:05]
just to say the flop house minis try them but they don't they don't mention the host element
[2:09]
yeah should we should we play ourselves in the commercials or should we have actors play us
[2:15]
because yeah that's a good question i mean we're not professional actors i mean elliot kind of is
[2:19]
no look let me get semi-professional dilettante and i saw dan in a college performance of hair
[2:26]
and he was pretty good yeah let me he didn't get naked though i was i was clawed so i sang
[2:34]
manchester england england i sang uh uh where do i go at the end i had a big part in uh the
[2:43]
flesh failures slash let the sunshine in uh i'll tell you the i'll tell you the flesh failure that
[2:49]
you didn't get nude at that show come on exactly put your money on the table uh-huh that's that's
[2:55]
another name for bloops at the end of a porno speaking of bloops uh this intro um hey can i
[3:03]
say the point that i wanted to make which was i think that the audience would appreciate these
[3:08]
minis uh uh knowing that part of the fun of them is one of us gets to impose some sort of uh you
[3:19]
know stricture or uh you know concept on the others and uh you know it really brings out sort
[3:27]
of the the sadist side of the the flop house where you get to like now i take control um
[3:35]
speaking of which now kids are in charge yeah yeah yeah it's it's freaky friday
[3:42]
um and i wanted to uh i wanted to play a little game i invented okay now is this now is this the
[3:49]
is this a phantasm type of game or a jigsaw type of game um it's more of like a parker brothers
[3:56]
type of game okay although fewer dead bodies and lost souls okay yeah it is very specific
[4:02]
to the flop house though so um okay would you even call it muflopoli i would call it muflopoli
[4:12]
that is what it's now called it's called muflopoli that does suggest a certain sort of
[4:17]
capitalist element to the game that it does not have oh okay i'm out uh the game is is this i'm
[4:24]
going to we we frequently talked about how we've done so many episodes of this podcast and so many
[4:29]
of the movies that we watch are bad in unmemorable ways um that we forget wholesale movies that we
[4:38]
have watched for the flop house podcast so uh just to just to get my wrap my head around it
[4:45]
how many episodes of the show have we done dan uh it's around 350 now i think we're just short
[4:52]
of it when this episode comes out or maybe this i i can't like we're doing see we've even forgotten
[4:57]
how many episodes we've done but that's and that's including minis that that number no no including
[5:03]
look we we messed up because for a while we were doing we should have just kept adding
[5:08]
it could have just done the minis as normal numbering yeah just normal numbering for all
[5:13]
of it so the fact that we've been doing this for 14 years would seem more impressive in the
[5:18]
numbering scheme of episodes rather than us having far fewer episodes than podcasts that
[5:24]
are younger than us we really shouldn't have had 20 different subtitles under which episodes have
[5:30]
their own numbering like flop house the adventure begins and flop house the adventure continues that
[5:35]
should just be counted as one series yeah yeah you're right um so american flop story asylum
[5:41]
and american flop story coven it's the same show guys it's the same actors basically right
[5:48]
should have just had been the same thing but uh let's okay this is hey wait dan that's my show
[5:59]
um the whole point is i'm gonna take us down a trip down memory lane see if you guys can
[6:05]
remember the titles of some movies we watched okay um so this is when alex should loop in
[6:12]
i don't know some sound just enough of a sound bite from like remember the time maybe
[6:17]
uh whatever is short enough that we're not gonna get exactly soon yeah so we don't get like
[6:23]
like a sandman version of michael jackson coming up and uh stealing our queens away
[6:29]
so the way it's gonna work is like this i've actually put a little more thought into the
[6:33]
mechanics of the game than i normally do for these things so some uh yes i'm gonna alternate
[6:40]
asking uh questions to each of you okay and so the person i ask will obviously get
[6:47]
first first shot at answering the question and at the point attached to it uh however
[6:52]
if they do not get it the other person will get a chance to steal um there'll be two rounds two
[6:59]
rounds of six questions each that's three for each of you okay you lost me and and one time around
[7:10]
like uh the rounds will be uh broken up by a commercial break and then one time around uh
[7:17]
you are allowed to ask for a hint so use your hints your uh one per round hints wisely
[7:25]
i have some written up do we have like a lifeline or a phone a friend or anything
[7:29]
uh the hints are the the lifeline okay mechanic of this game when do we get to play our quick
[7:36]
turn of quamper cards that's when the scores are reversed and the rules of the game are
[7:41]
abruptly changed yeah uh that will be in around 15 which is unfortunately in a different episode
[7:47]
of the show i'm sorry to hear that okay uh how many whammies are there there's no whammies
[7:54]
what you say no whammy no whammies yeah because you're hoping for the ideal uh the ideal utopian
[7:59]
society which is one without whammies yeah yeah if a whammy shows up in this game we are all
[8:04]
fucked we're all in trouble because the thing is that's the problem with utopias is there's no
[8:09]
whammies yeah okay um so it's the original the original novel utopia it ends with with the
[8:16]
traveler saying well i should stay here and they said we should warn you there's no whammies and
[8:20]
he says then i shall leave yeah yeah that was in the first draft of the script of the matrix they're
[8:25]
like humanity couldn't accept a world without whammies all right so uh this is round one
[8:36]
question one they go they go back there was that back to the future scene where he goes back and
[8:39]
kills hitler and then he comes back to the present they go yeah but there's no whammies and he goes
[8:43]
i've got to undo what i've done yeah so dan you're saying round one round one question one uh the
[8:50]
first one the first one will go to you elliot now the the way this will work is i have um the short
[8:58]
synopsis that imdb gives we all know often not the best synopsis provided on imdb but that's part of
[9:06]
the fun of the game is the chance of like what movie you get so in this case it's gonna be a
[9:12]
good game when the instructions keep telling you how much fun the game is when the fun is not
[9:17]
self-evident but has to be explained to you uh okay elliot the first question goes to you first
[9:25]
the description is an unstable escaped convict terrorizes a woman who is alone with her two
[9:32]
children what is the name of the flop house movie we watched with that plot
[9:37]
we watched a movie with that plot
[9:41]
okay let's see unstable escaped convict there's a woman alone with two children
[9:49]
it's not is it the one it's not the one with idris elba right she didn't have children in that did she
[9:54]
i cannot give any hints unless you're officially using your hand and i'm not
[10:00]
Even then only the hands I already have written out. Okay. I'm not gonna use my hint
[10:05]
I would I'd be foolish to throw that throw that chestnut away so quickly that advantage
[10:10]
I'm gonna say no good deed. That's the interstellar movie. You're correct. It is no good deed
[10:16]
Oh pull that out what somewhere in the deep reaches of my butt
[10:20]
So that is one point to Elliot in that case
[10:25]
To say to back up to reinforce the point of the of the game until you mentioned that and I started thinking until you mentioned
[10:31]
Tell me the summary. I started thinking about it. I did forget we had seen that movie. I
[10:35]
Still don't know
[10:40]
All right, did I watch it you were there I think yeah, I
[10:46]
Top ten of the year
[10:48]
What I did I tried to make sure I may have made a mistake along the line
[10:52]
I tried to make sure I'm looking at the website that
[10:56]
That all of these movies were not ones where one of you were gone because of a guest
[11:03]
I don't remember but you you really loved it. You said it was you said it was up above all the other releases that year
[11:08]
Yeah, oh, so I also forgot to tell you that I have arranged these in
[11:14]
reverse
[11:16]
Chronological episode order Wow. So the one the earlier ones have been more recent
[11:22]
Theoretically things will get harder as we person
[11:26]
So they call that they call that the backwards McCoy, yeah
[11:31]
So, okay, here's
[11:34]
one for you Stewart a
[11:36]
university professor and a team
[11:40]
Wait, yeah, that's the right one. Sorry. I'm university professor and a team of students
[11:46]
Conduct an experiment on a young woman
[11:50]
uncovering terrifyingly dark
[11:52]
unexpected forces in the process
[11:54]
Fuck is that?
[11:58]
The is that like deadly lessons the adventures of Simon Conjurer
[12:05]
I'm afraid that that
[12:07]
Was not deadly lessons Elliot. Would you like to try and steal this?
[12:11]
I don't remember the title
[12:13]
But I think that's the one where Roger Bart was the professor and it turns out he's the killer at the end
[12:19]
That is incorrect this one is
[12:22]
again, pretty vague
[12:24]
I'm DB summaries, but this one is the quiet one starring Jared Harris the quiet. Oh, right
[12:32]
house movie
[12:34]
All right
[12:36]
Jared Harris. Yeah, his
[12:38]
his wife is a guest on an upcoming episode of
[12:43]
I know the owner
[12:45]
That's the one
[12:47]
They're in a house where someone there were like witches in there at some point or say yes
[12:51]
I can reveal now that Stuart has mentioned it
[12:54]
The hint would have been Stewart recently had dinner with the lead actor's wife
[13:00]
So
[13:02]
Yes, that's a hint. That's good for Stuart and not for the audience
[13:06]
Is it Allegra Riggio slash Harris
[13:11]
Okay. Well remember
[13:13]
you are
[13:14]
One third of the way through round one. You each have one hint per round. So Oh
[13:21]
Yes, you don't have to be stingy. Just whenever you feel in trouble if I don't use my hint
[13:28]
Can I redeem it for store credit?
[13:31]
You
[13:33]
Can you can save it and redeem it at a later bullshit Dan game. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So this next one
[13:41]
Is for Elliot
[13:43]
The summary is a former sports star who's fallen on hard times
[13:48]
Starts coaching his son's football team as a way to get his life together
[13:54]
His attempts to become an adult are met with challenges from the attractive football moms who pursue him at every turn
[14:00]
What was the name of that movie?
[14:03]
It's bad. Dad soccer. Dad is what we call it. I've assumed that it's football meaning soccer
[14:07]
That's the that's the that's the twist you've thrown at me. Yeah
[14:12]
I'm just writing what I'm to be head
[14:19]
What was it called it's not the big green that's a kid soccer movie it's not victory
[14:25]
That's the soccer movie where they play the Nazis. It's not
[14:29]
Invictus that's a different soccer movie about South Africa. Yeah
[14:37]
Playing for keeps is playing for keeps you
[14:41]
Hold it out of your brain
[14:43]
Once again, all I had to do was think of every soccer movie
[14:47]
Stewart
[14:48]
Elliot now leads you two to zero, but here's your chance to make up some of that ground
[14:58]
And an angel under the thumb of a Ruth ruthless gangster is saved by a trumpet player
[15:06]
down on his luck
[15:08]
This was a particularly memorable one, I don't remember the title that damn it
[15:13]
Mickey Rourke's in it. Mm-hmm. This is the classic one where he hits on a lady by putting a lemon under a handkerchief and then
[15:20]
Rolling it down a bar at her
[15:23]
I don't remember that
[15:25]
Is it Oh passion play it is passion play
[15:32]
No scope to that shit, dude
[15:38]
So I just I'll tell you right now
[15:41]
That
[15:42]
Hints do not carry over. You're not a crew to hence if you don't use them this round
[15:48]
So each of you I would advise you to just go ahead and for us to use these
[15:52]
I'm just helping you out with strategy. I'm saying that
[15:56]
There's no point in saving them anymore for round about to say I was about to say
[16:01]
Thanks for telling us the rules in the middle of the game
[16:03]
But also like I wouldn't have I would have stopped listening if you were telling us all the rules the beginning of the game
[16:07]
Yeah, that's the right way to do it. I thought I taught you games before
[16:14]
All right, so this
[16:18]
Is for Elliot again and it goes like this
[16:25]
Soon after moving into their seemingly idyllic new home a
[16:30]
Family learns of a brutal crime committed against former residents of the dwelling
[16:38]
Pretty generic plot very generic
[16:43]
That is a generic
[16:46]
Generic
[16:47]
plot
[16:49]
You know what? I'm gonna live dangerously. I'm gonna use my hand right off. Okay. Well, obviously we're not listening even even then
[16:57]
The hint is but if you were telling us used your hints, but if he uses I know
[17:03]
You're I'm saying that you acted as if you didn't know that that was your homie
[17:06]
But if he uses his hand playing along with your game if he uses his hand, is it all used up?
[17:11]
It's used up for this round. He gets another one
[17:14]
Again
[17:16]
Another hint until the next time we play the game
[17:18]
No, but I what we can but we do do a steal a sign where I can steal your hand if I give the proper
[17:25]
verbal
[17:26]
Nonverbal hand motion signal which the audience will not such easy game again. Okay. Anyway, the the hint Elliot is
[17:33]
The leads of this movie are married to one another
[17:38]
It doesn't do anything for you, that's weirdly I think I kind of knew that and it still doesn't help me particularly
[17:46]
How about is it
[17:52]
Show me the Mexican
[17:55]
No, that's not it Stuart. You have a
[18:01]
Name
[18:04]
A
[18:05]
name
[18:06]
It's Daniel Craig and Rachel Weiss, right? And I'm trying to know now. I remember that was the ghost house or something
[18:13]
Oh, no, Dan. Can I go back? Can I take that as a hint that Sue it gave me?
[18:17]
No, but if goes after your final answer, you're incorrect. Yeah, it's stream house stream house
[18:26]
Super close very close. You were very close it might in defense in my defense
[18:32]
I did not remember the plot of dream house. Yeah, that's
[18:37]
I didn't remember the title
[18:40]
In my defense I did not know
[18:42]
All right, so
[18:44]
Your honor in my defense. Yes, I did kill him, but I was very mad
[18:49]
so this one is for Stuart, uh, the
[18:54]
Synopsis is a rising country music songwriter works with a fallen star to work their way to fame
[19:01]
Causing romantic complications along the way
[19:07]
It's not crazy heart, although that's basically the same synopsis, yeah
[19:14]
What?
[19:18]
I'll use my hint, please. I
[19:22]
Will throw my hint in the trash used up just tell it to me Dan I
[19:27]
Will give you the hint the one I have here, you know is pretty useless. So I'll give you this one this movie
[19:34]
stars Gwyneth Paltrow
[19:39]
That's true
[19:44]
Actually, I I'm gonna take when to a steward son, I'm gonna take issue with the hint you gave me in the previous question Dan
[19:49]
I'm gonna
[19:53]
Gwyneth Paltrow man, it's like like an American quilt or some trash
[20:00]
I don't remember. I'm going to say it's the Country Bears movie.
[20:06]
It's not that. Elliot...
[20:09]
I don't remember. I think it had Angel in the title.
[20:12]
It did not.
[20:14]
Oh.
[20:15]
What was it?
[20:16]
It was Country Strong.
[20:18]
Country Strong. That's right.
[20:20]
So Dan, here's my issue.
[20:22]
When Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz made Dreamhouse, they were not married.
[20:25]
They fell in love while making that film.
[20:27]
I didn't say that they were married at the time.
[20:29]
I just said the two stars are married.
[20:32]
I'm talking about the present tense.
[20:34]
They are still married.
[20:36]
I think that was a little bit of verbal trickery, Dan.
[20:39]
I think you owe me half a hint at a later question.
[20:41]
I think when you assume things, you make an ass out of you.
[20:45]
Okay.
[20:46]
Well, at the next round, I'm asking for a hint.
[20:49]
I don't care what the rules say.
[20:50]
So what's the scores, Dan?
[20:52]
Dan, I was hoping you would get mad and say you do get a hint in the next round.
[20:57]
Luckily, I wasn't paying attention, but that was a pretty good troll.
[21:02]
So going out of the first round, at the end of the first round, that's how they say it.
[21:08]
Elliot has two and Stuart has one.
[21:12]
So no scoring during that round.
[21:14]
That was a tough round.
[21:15]
I got you on the ropes, Elliot.
[21:17]
I should have remembered Country Strong except for the fact that until you said Gwyneth Paltrow, I also didn't remember seeing that movie.
[21:24]
Yeah.
[21:25]
That's the one where they bury a bird at one point, right?
[21:28]
Yes, there is a bird involved somehow.
[21:30]
That was going to be the other hint.
[21:32]
Yeah, I don't remember.
[21:37]
Hi, I'm Annabelle Gurwitch.
[21:39]
And I'm Laura House.
[21:40]
And we're the hosts of Tiny Victories.
[21:42]
My tiny victory is that I sewed that button back on the day after it broke.
[21:49]
We talk about that little thing that you did that's a big deal to you, but nobody else cares.
[21:53]
Did you get that Guggenheim Genius Award?
[21:55]
We don't want to hear from you.
[21:56]
We want little bitty tiny victories.
[21:58]
My tiny victory is a tattoo that I added on to this past weekend.
[22:02]
Let's talk about it.
[22:03]
My victory is that I'm one year cancer free.
[22:05]
But my tiny victory is that I took all of the cushions off the couch, pounded them out, put them back, and it looks so great.
[22:15]
So if you're like us and you want to celebrate the tiny achievements of ordinary people, listen to Tiny Victories.

All the beans have been spilled via an Apple podcast review that said this show isn't well researched.
[22:41]
Well, yeah, no duh.
[22:42]
Of course it's not.
[22:43]

So listeners, you do the same.
[25:01]
If it's good enough for me, then it's certainly good enough for you.
[25:04]
I'm nothing, so we shouldn't do it.
[25:07]
This is one of the issues I'm going to be dealing with.
[25:09]
This is one of the issues I'm going to be dealing with.
[25:11]
Well, it's something, everybody.
[25:13]
But no, yeah, the Flophouse are big supporters of therapy in general.
[25:18]
And we advise you if you ever feel like even the slightest twinge of need for it, just go ahead and do it.
[25:26]
Don't be ashamed. Don't think twice.
[25:28]
Just go ahead and get that help because it's good to get.
[25:30]
But let us return.
[25:34]
It's a lot easier than doing a podcast for 14 years, let me tell you.
[25:37]
To the thrilling.
[25:39]
When the best idea we can come up with is what stuff have we seen we don't remember.
[25:45]
Dan, I'm just joking with you.
[25:46]
It's a great idea.
[25:47]
I love it, and I think the audience is going to love it too.
[25:50]
Wow, Dan's erasing some of your points.
[25:53]
Oh, no.
[25:55]
It's okay.
[25:56]
I hacked into his computer war game style, and I'm giving myself 100 points.
[26:00]
What's this game?
[26:01]
Thermonuclear War.
[26:02]
I guess I'll just play this right now.
[26:03]
No.
[26:05]
Dan, I didn't know your computer was part of the Pentagon.
[26:07]
Nuclear Missile Command, I'm sorry.
[26:10]
Well, we have returned for the exciting second and final round of Maflopoli again.
[26:20]
That is misleading.
[26:22]
And just to catch everybody up to speed, it's going to be extra tense because we've already used our hints, folks.
[26:28]
No.
[26:29]
There's no hints left.
[26:30]
We really got to rely on the old gray matter.
[26:33]
This is the hintless round.
[26:35]
Now for round two, we're going to switch it up.
[26:37]
Elliot got to go first.
[26:38]
I guess we're just the outsiders by S.E. Hintless right now because we don't have any hints left.
[26:43]
Elliot got to go first in round one, so Stuart will kick off round two.
[26:48]
If this wasn't such a cutthroat game, I would suggest Elliot get half a point for his S.E. Hintless joke.
[26:54]
Thank you.
[26:56]
Yeah, no.
[26:57]
You have to crush your competitor.
[27:00]
You can't be so kind.
[27:02]
No, you can't enjoy their great puns about YA authors no matter how classic.
[27:08]
Stuart, here's your synopsis.
[27:11]
Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population of the face of the earth.
[27:26]
I'm going to say I think this is Skyline.
[27:29]
This is Skyline, episode 27.
[27:33]
Yes.
[27:34]
Movie based on chili.
[27:37]
Movie with a little extra cinnamon in it.
[27:40]
That's their secret?
[27:42]
Part of it.
[27:44]
I wish that was the slogan for a movie.
[27:46]
The movie with a little extra cinnamon in it.
[27:48]
Elliot.
[27:50]
But it stars like the Randy and Bandy cinnamon.
[27:53]
Like there's two of them, so.
[27:55]
Randy and Bandy.
[27:58]
Yeah.
[27:59]
Okay.
[28:00]
So this synopsis for you, Elliot.
[28:03]
In Paris, a young employee in the office of the U.S. ambassador hooks up with an American spy looking to stop a terrorist attack in the city.
[28:14]
Is that – I'm going to get that first word wrong.
[28:18]
Is that From Paris With Love with John Travolta?
[28:22]
It is From Paris With Love.
[28:25]
I was so worried.
[28:26]
You saw my stealing hand.
[28:28]
Ready to go.
[28:30]
I was worried it was going to be To Paris With Love.
[28:32]
Yeah.
[28:33]
I remember – that was when John Travolta was like a super suave, bald spy, right?
[28:36]
Which would make sense because there's two of them.
[28:39]
So To Paris With Love would work on multiple levels, right?
[28:43]
It could also work as a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen like when they were kids video where it's two Paris – and it's like I went to Paris, and you stayed in America, and we've got to get our parents back together.
[28:54]
Right.
[28:55]
Yeah.
[28:56]
All right.
[28:57]
So back to Stuart for the next question.
[28:59]
Okay.
[29:00]
An adventurous but naive teenager must rally his group of friends to protect their world from conflict between the Lakhni and Nohrin people.
[29:18]
This is when – this is when things get tough.
[29:25]
Okay, Dan.
[29:26]
Give me a hint.
[29:27]
The lead character is voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.
[29:34]
Fuck.
[29:36]
Okay.
[29:38]
So voiced is – he's probably animated.
[29:42]
He's probably not a puppet.
[29:44]
Okay.
[29:46]
No puppet.
[29:48]
Could be a puppet.
[29:49]
It's probably not Jim Henson's Freddie Prinze Jr. Adventures.
[29:52]
Give me the synopsis one more time.
[29:55]
I'm probably mispronouncing the made-up words in it.
[30:00]
But an adventurous but naive teenager must rally his group of friends to protect their
[30:05]
world from conflict between the Lachni and Nohren people."
[30:09]
Fuck.
[30:10]
Oh, man, I don't know, uh, uh, man, I don't know, like, I, I'm, I'm gonna, I'm gonna tap
[30:24]
out.
[30:25]
I don't know.
[30:26]
Uh, Elliot, do you have a steal?
[30:28]
Man, can you show me Delgo?
[30:30]
That is Delgo.
[30:31]
Goddammit.
[30:32]
Uh.
[30:33]
Didn't I spend most of that movie, like, face down on your floor?
[30:38]
I think you did.
[30:39]
I mean, it's been so many times at this point.
[30:43]
It was very bad.
[30:44]
Yeah, that was, uh, one of our early real stinkers.
[30:48]
That was, uh, episode 50, kind of a miserable experience.
[30:53]
You put that in the vault labeled real R-E-E-L stinkers with a Z at the end.
[30:59]
So, uh, Elliot, this next one for you, um, in an attempt to save his marriage, a firefighter
[31:07]
uses a 40-day experiment known as the Love Dare.
[31:13]
Was that fireproof?
[31:15]
That is fireproof.
[31:16]
Dammit.
[31:17]
Uh, yeah.
[31:18]
Wow, Elliot.
[31:19]
That's the one where Cameron is addicted to internet porn, right?
[31:21]
Uh-huh.
[31:23]
I think you're having the same thing that I had, which is, like, weirdly, the stuff
[31:27]
further away I remember better because, like, we hadn't been so ground down by doing this.
[31:33]
Whereas, something like, like, the Quiet Ones, I'm like, I don't know, man.
[31:38]
And that was still, like, what, six years ago?
[31:39]
But still, you know?
[31:40]
Yeah.
[31:41]
But if you asked me what the, what the episode before last was, I'd be like, oh, oh, cats.
[31:48]
All right.
[31:49]
So, back to Stuart.
[31:50]
This is your last question of the game.
[31:52]
Last chance to get on the scoreboard before the final round.
[31:56]
Mm-hmm.
[31:57]
No.
[31:58]
No.
[31:59]
And remember, Stu, you still have a hint.
[32:01]
Before the super extreme final round.
[32:05]
This is the, whew, okay, uh, Stuart.
[32:08]
A depressed woman.
[32:09]
And after this comes the lightning round.
[32:11]
A depressed woman learns that her husband was killed in a car accident the previous
[32:17]
day.
[32:18]
Shit.
[32:19]
Then awakens the next morning to find him alive and well at home.
[32:23]
Then awakens the day after that to find he's dead.
[32:27]
What was that movie called?
[32:28]
Ugh.
[32:29]
No.
[32:30]
Oh, no.
[32:31]
No.
[32:32]
No.
[32:33]
No.
[32:34]
Oh, no.
[32:35]
I'm so glad Stuart got this one.
[32:36]
Oh, no.
[32:37]
It's really hurting him.
[32:38]
Wow.
[32:39]
No.
[32:40]
Oh, no.
[32:41]
Oh, no.
[32:42]
Oh, no.
[32:43]
Oh, no.
[32:44]
Oh, no.
[32:45]
Oh, no.
[32:46]
Oh, no.
[32:47]
Oh, no.
[32:53]
You got this one Stu.
[32:56]
It's a common word.
[32:57]
A word you might use every day.
[32:59]
It's not that common.
[33:00]
Remember, you still got it, you've still got a hint.
[33:01]
You've still got a hint.
[33:02]
I'm gonna use my hint Dan.
[33:04]
No, you don't have a hint anymore.
[33:06]
And it wouldn't help you.
[33:07]
Oh, no.
[33:08]
It wouldn't help you?
[33:10]
What kind of a hint is that?
[33:14]
I feel like if he doesn't have it, he's not gonna get this one.
[33:17]
Show me memories of murder.
[33:22]
No, not that classic.
[33:25]
Although that title does seem like it would fit the plot, I guess.
[33:28]
Yeah.
[33:29]
Ali, do you have a steal on this one?
[33:31]
I think I still have a hint left in this round, right?
[33:34]
Yeah.
[33:35]
Give me this hint that's not gonna help.
[33:37]
Yeah, well, there's the last question, Dan.
[33:39]
So, yeah, I'm gonna use the hint.
[33:40]
What am I saving it for?
[33:41]
Well, maybe, yeah.
[33:42]
Maybe this will help, actually.
[33:43]
I can't cash it in for an item of equal or lesser value.
[33:47]
Star Sandra Bullock helped this movie actually make around $80 million on a $20 million budget.
[33:53]
So, not really a flop.
[33:55]
Is it Premonition?
[33:57]
It is called Premonition.
[33:58]
Jesus Christ.
[34:00]
That was a very helpful hint.
[34:02]
Like, Dan, you said this is a normal word, you might have used it today.
[34:05]
And the answer was Premonition.
[34:10]
I did go to Coney Island today, so there's a chance.
[34:14]
Sure it was.
[34:15]
He was in part of a brainstorming group thinking up perfume names today, so he might have used Premonition, yeah.
[34:21]
So, all right.
[34:23]
Final question of the entire game.
[34:26]
This one goes to Elliot first.
[34:29]
A wealthy young man undergoing heart transplant surgery discovers that the surgical team intend to murder him.
[34:38]
I believe that's Awake.
[34:40]
That is Awake.
[34:41]
Wow, Elliot, you almost swept the –
[34:43]
Real quick, real quick.
[34:44]
Wow.
[34:46]
Is it possible for me to win the game still?
[34:49]
No, it's not possible.
[34:51]
No, Stuart.
[34:52]
Okay, so this is when the final round comes up.
[34:54]
Dan hasn't told us about it yet.
[34:56]
No, no.
[34:57]
And it's called All the Marbles.
[34:59]
Oh, he is going to – yeah, yeah, yeah.
[35:01]
If I was a good game master, I would have an All the Marbles round, but all I have –
[35:05]
You'd have your golden quench or whatever it is from Quidditch where they're like, you can score the regular points or just catch this thing and win instantly.
[35:13]
I don't know.
[35:14]
What are you going to do?
[35:16]
Yeah.
[35:17]
So Elliot wins with seven to Stuart's two, and honestly, I think I would do more like Stuart if I had to take this quiz.
[35:30]
Look, Stuart, just to get on the show is an impressive feat.
[35:33]
Yeah, I know.
[35:34]
Just to get past all the rounds of testing.
[35:36]
Dan, thanks for making a great game, reminding me of how much time I've wasted watching stupid movies and then retaining some knowledge of them in my brain.
[35:45]
That's the real question.
[35:46]
Why am I doing that?
[35:48]
I mean I guess I'm impressed because at least the first half of the – I mean the later – the earlier movies we watched, I was so fucking drunk.
[35:58]
Like all that stuff is a smear across the pavement of my brain.
[36:04]
Yeah.
[36:05]
Yeah.
[36:06]
Yeah, Dan's room used to – his living room used to be littered with bottle caps and chicken bones by the end of a usual viewing session.
[36:14]
Yeah, it was a magical time.
[36:17]
Yeah.
[36:20]
Well, thank you, listeners, for taking this magical – again, I reuse the word – trip down memory lane.
[36:29]
Yeah, and if for whatever reason you feel like I was robbed or the game was rigged against me, you should write in.
[36:35]
Let Dan know that his game needed a lightning round at the end.
[36:39]
Try and catch me, coppers.
[36:42]
Oh, wow.
[36:43]
Oh, wow.
[36:44]
Dan had a little car ready.
[36:46]
He's driving away.
[36:47]
He's going down the street.
[36:48]
Oh, wait.
[36:49]
He's turning around.
[36:50]
He gets out.
[36:51]
He's doing a dance.
[36:52]
He got out and is doing a dance.
[36:53]
Yeah, he's doing a lot of dabbing, a lot of dabbing and a lot of dancing.
[36:56]
Oh, wow.
[36:57]
He's shining him on.
[36:58]
Okay, I get it.
[36:59]
Yeah.
[37:00]
He doesn't understand.
[37:01]
That's only going to make them more willing to catch him.
[37:04]
They'll put in overtime.
[37:06]
Where's the confetti coming from?
[37:08]
Did he set up those confetti cannons ahead of time because I can't see where it's falling from.
[37:11]
Yeah, I think he knew I was going to catch him.
[37:13]
Yeah.
[37:14]
Well, let's get us all out of here.
[37:16]
I want to thank you to Alex Smith, our producer, for doing such a wonderful job making us sound good, I hope.
[37:24]
And I haven't heard it yet.
[37:28]
Who knows?
[37:30]
And then he puts a filter on, so we're all like, welcome to the Fluff House.
[37:34]
I'm Dan Moore.
[37:35]
That actually sounds pretty cool.
[37:36]
He makes us sound real good.
[37:37]
Yeah.
[37:38]
It's the Stewart filter.
[37:40]
Why don't you check out MaximumFun.org for other podcasts.
[37:44]
If you listen to this one, you might like others, and there's a lot of good ones over there.
[37:49]
Ones that are organized and funny and informative.
[37:53]
I was very organized.
[37:55]
I had a spreadsheet.
[37:57]
I had rules.
[37:58]
I mean, you're not the disorganized part of this episode, Dan.
[38:02]
No, no.
[38:03]
I do like that Dan puts much more organization into the minis than he does into the regular eps, but that's okay.
[38:08]
Somebody has to.
[38:09]
Yeah, yeah.
[38:11]
Thanks for listening.
[38:12]
If you enjoy the show, spread the word.
[38:14]
But for now, I've been Dan McCoy.
[38:17]
Hey, it's me, Stewart Wellington, and I'm going to win next time.
[38:21]
I promise.
[38:22]
And it's me, Elliot Memory Man Kalen, champion and returning champion, if this ever happens again, of Muflopoli.
[38:29]
That's right.
[38:30]
It's the game all America is playing if you are a co-host of this show.
[38:35]
Are they litigious?
[38:37]
What is that, Milton Bradley?
[38:39]
I hope not.
[38:40]
I hope not.
Description
Dan challenges the others to a game he's invented that has absolutely nothing to do with Monopoly, and everything to do with how quickly we forget the dreck we watch for this podcast.
