[1:42] The finest restaurant in the little beach town of Bellhaven.

[1:46] Celebrating over 75 years of service, the Silverbell is an important part of the busy summer community.

[1:54] Tonight is the first Friday of the beach season, and the Silverbell is under new management, and the reservation book is full.

[2:01] It promises to be a busy evening.

[2:04] Now let's meet our players and their characters.

[2:09] This is why I start out?

[2:10] Yes.

[2:11] I know you said it.

[2:13] I just thought that there would be a toss or something.

[2:17] It would be like, Dan, who are you playing?

Elliott Kalan

[2:19] Let's introduce the characters.

[2:21] It's a pretty clear toss.

Stuart Wellington

[2:23] Well, we haven't even said our...

Elliott Kalan

[2:26] Before starting being like, this is the order.

Dan McCoy

[2:29] We haven't even said our real names, which we usually do at the start of...

[2:32] Yeah, that's what I said, players.

[2:33] Okay.

[2:34] This is not a boutique.

[2:37] I'm just talking about my own confusion.

[2:39] I'm with you, Dan.

[2:40] Hey, I'm Dan McCoy of the Flophouse, but right now we're doing Slop Tales, a spinoff of the original popular Flop Tales RPG bonus episodes.

[2:52] And in this episode, I'll be playing Luke Rotwarmer, who works at this restaurant, of course.

[3:04] I'm a sweet, innocent college boy, and I wear the uniform of a college boy who doesn't know how to dress yet, but is kind of a sweet, nerdy man working somewhere, which is khakis and a white shirt.

[3:22] Neither of them fit well.

[3:25] That's all I have to say right now, I guess.

Elliott Kalan

[3:27] I'll introduce myself.

[3:29] My name is Elliot Kalin, and today I'll be playing the part of Jeremy Scales Chandler.

[3:33] I am the sous chef over at the Silver Bell, and, you know, I'm not from a privileged background.

[3:40] I worked my way up.

[3:41] My family, you know, they work the docks.

[3:44] They work the sea.

[3:44] My dad is a sea cucumber farmer, which is, you know, he just catches them, and it hasn't been a great catch the last couple seasons.

[3:53] So that's why I'm working my way up through the ranks at the Silver Bell, the sous chef there.

[3:57] And you could think of me as a guy who's got like, you know, like one of those half aprons, real filthy, never gets washed, and kind of like a sleeveless band t-shirt.

[4:08] I think that band is probably going to be, let's see, early Genesis and, you know, the real psychedelic.

[4:16] Yeah, it's clarified on the shirt.

[4:17] Yeah, and it's also filthy.

[4:20] Yeah, it's also very stained, does not get washed very much.

Stuart Wellington

[4:22] Now, real quick, you said it's Jeremy Scales Chandler?

[4:25] Yes, yes.

[4:25] What does Scales stand for?

Elliott Kalan

[4:27] Scales represents fish scales because I grew up, again, scraping the scales off of sea cucumbers and whatever else my dad could catch in his little dinghy of a boat that barely kept us supported.

[4:37] I'm a real townie guy from a humble background, you know.

[4:41] So I always have fish scales under my fingernails, and I smell like fish scales.

[4:45] And so it started as an insulting nickname, but I've kind of taken it on.

[4:49] I've started to own it, you know.

Dan McCoy

[4:50] And I wanted to say that in the kerfuffle where I did everything wrong, I forgot to mention, I am the host at the restaurant.

[4:59] That's your job.

[5:00] My job.

[5:01] Excellent.

Zhubin Parang

[5:02] Hi, I'm Jumin Parang, and I'll be playing Terrence Silverbell.

[5:06] He is the son of the owners of the Silverbell Tavern, and he is the new manager.

[5:11] It is the job that he has been raised since birth to be.

[5:18] He has been the town, the Silverbells have been the town royalty for as long as he's been alive, onto four or five generations.

[5:25] When they were the first family that founded the town, settled there, built the tavern before they built any houses.

[5:33] So the tavern has the best position in the town, looking at over the beach on a small little cliff over.

[5:40] All the houses are sort of like surround the town.

[5:44] The town is sort of centered around the Silverbell Tavern.

[5:49] Terrence is a very handsome young man.

[5:53] He is dressed impeccably in a manager's of a restaurant's outfit, black pants, buttoned down shirt, the black tie that comes down that is kind of tucked into the between the third and second button of the shirt with a little beautiful gold.

[6:08] I'm sorry, excuse me, silver pin that says Terrence on it.

[6:12] He is a little too tall to be handsome.

[6:16] His height reaches just the point where it stops being attractive and starts being a little like, oh, how does he get around?

[6:23] Yeah, like you start to loom over.

[6:24] Yes, yes.

[6:25] People worry about your bone density.

[6:27] Yes, at that point.

[6:28] And it's a little bit of a thing for him.

[6:31] But he has nonetheless gotten by on his family's largesse and wealth and all beach passes all year round.

[6:40] Every hotel in the area, every other tavern always gives the family all the soup to nuts specials, all the beach chair and poolside access.

[6:51] And he is fully, fully taking advantage of all of us from the first day.

[6:56] He has not actually worked at the restaurant very long, but he has managerial DNA.

Dan McCoy

[7:01] I'm glad he got over the trauma of being too tall.

[7:03] Yeah.

Elliott Kalan

[7:04] One other thing I forgot to mention about Jeremy Scales Chandler.

[7:07] I just want to stick it.

[7:08] The character also has a beard.

[7:09] We should mention it's a pretty scraggly beard.

[7:10] It's not by choice.

[7:11] It's just by not shaving.

[7:12] And the beard also has scales, fish scales kind of caught in it from, you know, sometimes he'll just pick up a fish and take a bite out of it.

[7:18] And, you know, he's a guy, he's a real, he's a real, he's a real slob, you know.

[7:23] He's a real, he's a real humble guy.

Dan McCoy

[7:25] I would argue that not shaving is a choice.

[7:27] You may actively butcher.

Elliott Kalan

[7:30] I mean, it's the choice of least resistance.

[7:33] The hair's coming out.

[7:34] He's not going to stop it, you know.

Stuart Wellington

[7:36] And it means that when they're worried the health department's going to show up, he has to wear a little beard net.

[7:41] Yes.

[7:41] To keep his beard out of the food.

[7:44] Okay.

Elliott Kalan

[7:45] Because otherwise the scales sometimes fall from his beard into the food.

Zhubin Parang

[7:48] Yeah.

[7:48] The other people.

[7:49] And his eyes.

[7:50] The other, the customers get very mad when their fish scales get on the fish scales that they order.

[7:55] It's very upsetting.

[7:58] Is that the specialty of the silver bells?

Dan McCoy

[8:01] Fish scales?

[8:02] That's an answer you're going to have to provide for me later.

[8:10] Wow.

[8:14] Wow.
